National Seminar On The National Coastal Forest Rehabilitation 2013: “Coastal Forest Conservation And Rehabilitation For Community Livelihood”


Please be informed that National Seminar on the National Coastal Forest Rehabilitation 2013 with the theme “Coastal Forest Conservation and Rehabilitation for Community Livelihood” will be held from 11-13 June 2013 at University Malaysia Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu. This Seminar will be officiated by Yb Dato' Hj Razif Bin Abdul Rahman, Chairman of Science and Technology, Environment, Green Tech & Water Committee of Terengganu State Government.

National Seminar on the National Coastal Forest Rehabilitation is one of the activities conducted under the Tree Planting with Mangrove and Other Suitable Species along the National Coastlines Programme. A series of such Seminar had been held since 2006 as a platform for the discussion of several aspects related to conservation and rehabilitation of the national coastal forest, issues, challenges and latest inputs to facilitate the implementation of national coastal forest rehabilitation programme. This seminar offers opportunity for the local communities to participate actively and benefit from the discussions and presentations held throughout the seminar.

Objectives of Seminar are:

  1. to provide a platform to discuss issues, problems, challenges and the efforts of the management and rehabilitation of national coastal forests;
  2. to get the latest inputs to ensure the effective implementation of the planting programmes in the future;
  3. to increase public awareness initiatives on the purpose and importance of coastal rehabilitation programs; and
  4. to foster closer collaboration among various government departments and agencies, local institutions and non-governmental organizations (NGO), as well as to promote community involvement in the conservation and rehabilitation of national coastal forest.
