Introduction
Terengganu State Forestry Department is responsible for maintaining and developing the state's forest reserves. Therefore, it is the Department's vision to be recognized as a leading agency in the Sustainable Management of Tropical Forests (HSB). At present, there are 654.625 ha of forested areas in Terengganu Darul Iman. The total area of 544.118 ha area was gazetted as Permanent Reserved Forests (PRF). Therefore, it is important that the Department have just achieve this vision and meet the aspirations of the countries in which the forestry sector will continue to be the main contributor to the industrial and socio-economic development of the country. It can be achieved through the maintenance of ecological balance and environmental stability.
Terengganu State Forestry Department also serves to provide the license production of timber logs and forest products in the HSK, state land and land as well as licensing and monitoring of factories Wood-Based Industries (IBK). The Department is also actively enforcing the National Forestry Act 1984 and the Forestry Act 1986, particularly in the prevention of illegal logging and illegal timber processing activities. The Department also played a role in the eco-tourism sector through the establishment and maintenance of the 14 area of the forest in the Terengganu State.
